We pride ourselves in being able to tackle almost any refurbishment. The most extreme we have ever undertaken involved a rat infested, partial collapsed, former farmhouse and milking parlour which had not been improved since the 1950s.
The Building was 2* Listed and was of great local importance, belonging to a former hero of the English Civil Wars. The property was almost 600 years old and was partially constructed, when new, from second hand ship timbers!
Such projects require great sensitivity, both to respect the original design and period features, whilst making buildings fit for modern living. This can include using original timber jointing, making a new roof look old, lime horse hair plastering on laths, as well as ensuring modern additions are in keeping.
We have worked with English Heritage on past projects and fully understand the particular issues Listed Buildings present. They can often be the most enjoyable projects to reflect upon once completed.
